How to Enter a Room and Be of Service: A Guide for the Comforter of the Sick and Bereaved, with Rabbi Peretz Wolf-Prusan
The fear of public speaking is the most common phobia ahead of death, spiders, or heights. Right up there is how one may feel visiting the ill or the bereaved: we don’t want to say the wrong thing (this week’s Torah portion is “Devarim / Words”). Opening the door of a hospital room or reaching out to folks in mourning can be scary. There are some practical steps to help you enter a room and be of service.
