Students in the Berkeley Unified School District do not receive their usual school meals when schools are closed for the week of Thanksgiving and the two weeks of winter break, placing additional economic strain on lower income families. The BUSD Office of Family Engagement and Equity [OFEE] and the Berkeley Public School Fund partner in a Holiday Gift Card Fundraising Campaign each year to provide supplemental financial support to families facing food insecurity, economic hardship, and/or other challenges such as illness or trauma. Their goal is to provide support in the form of retailer gift cards to at least 350 families.
Please help narrow the food and educational gaps that exist in Berkeley.
